First off, This guide was taken by me from other TCOS website,very useful.

Avoid of skill:

1)Volley blast - Maybe if you like long range sniping, it's ranged, not spell, so you won't be upgrading that minor tcos damage with combos either.

2)<Affinity> Circle - You will likely take more damage while casting tham than they will prevent, garbage. Would maybe be of marginal use if you rolled all three into one.

3)Combust - it's nice and damaging, with that nice extra burn on it as well... but it saps your physique, so you can't run away, that alone will cause you some deaths. Then again, if you know you're going to have completely sapped physique anyway, go for it.

4)Amplify fear - complete meh.

The Skill you must have:

1)Rune of flames - later on(combos) it does great damage, but get it because every time the rune triggers on an enemy, you count as casting another spell, more healing from tap magic!

2)Scorch blade - hands down the best combo starter, the damage increase is very good.

3)Righteous hunt - heal teammates, damage actually decent in combos, and it's the fastest rolling spell.

4)Mind blade - because a short melee immunity gives you time to combo up. Damage isn't that bad, but not a spell so combo doesn't boost it, it's also a bit slow in execution, but still, get it.

5)Disruption - massively damaging, faster than shell shock, get it.

6)Shell shocked - good staple attack spell

7)Rising stakes - good multitarget spell.

8)Magi funnel - will occasionally hit twice in front and not require a rear target, good damage(and better than disruption if it double hits), reflect range is quite useful, but the short range means if you're facing a bunch of archers, it can be tough getting that buff from it... oh it's also quite fast.

If you team with others, and they are meleers, scorch blade/rune of flames will hurt your allies when they hit the burning enemies... it may still be worth using them, simply because killing faster may save your buddies even with them being burned... but if in doubt, sub in rune of bonds, and just avoid using rune of flames.
